Hey gang, this is just to let you know that a Coffee Berry Borer (CBB) Information Page has been created by the Hawaii Department of Agriculture to provide updated information on the recently confirmed infestation of the CBB in Kona. An informational sheet about the CBB is now available on their website.
There is also growing concern from the conservation community that this pest might spread to related native species from the Coffee Family (Rubiaceae), including pilo (Coprosma spp.), kopiko (Psychotria spp.), Hedyotis/Kadua spp. and rare and endangered nau (Gardenia brighamii, G. remyi). Yikes!
